Outdoor Recreation Standing Committee

This committee is one of three standing committees of Recreation SA that advocates on behalf of the outdoor recreation sector in South Australia.

The Standing Committee comprises:

Role of the Committee

The purpose of this standing committee is to further the interests of outdoor recreation in South Australia by enhancing the growth, quality and standards of the community outdoor recreation sector in this State.

The committee achieves this through the following actions:

Advocacy for the Outdoor Industry

To represent and further the interests of the outdoor recreation sector to government, media, national and other appropriate organisations and the public.  To make recommendations to the Board and other standing committees of Recreation SA with regard to the outdoor recreation sector.

Representation for the Outdoor Industry

To represent and support the interests of individuals and groups in the outdoor community.

Promotion

To publicise and promote the value of outdoor recreation to South Australians and encourage increased participation in outdoor recreation activities.

Industry Liaison

To provide a forum for outdoor recreation service providers to exchange information about current research, innovations, trends, standards, funding and future directions.

Standards

Promote national vocational qualifications, industry competency standards and accreditation.

Education/Training

To initiate and promote training programs aimed at improving the viability and quality of outdoor recreation service providers.
