Check out the full listing of all activities here.
Given the ongoing need to inform and reinforce to South Australians the benefits of being physically active, Recreation SA is taking the lead role to work with recreation providers to bring their services to the community through a series of 'come and try' activities. This is an exciting opporunity for the public to experience first hand recreational activities that they may not have considered before.
Recreation SA will coordinate this event with support from a number of its fitness, community and outdoor members who provide recreational services to the community.
The objectives of Recreation Week 2008 are 1) to break down the barriers to participation, whether that be motivation, access, time or cost 2) increase the awareness of recreation providers in the community 3) increase the awareness of the benefits of recreating, including health, social and environmental and 4) increase the level of enquiry and commitment to a recreation activity. Recreation SA will know we have achieved these objectives from the feedback from our participating organisations who will provide us with information on the attendance of their event, level of enquiry to their organisation, uptake of membership and by the level of media coverage this event demands.
This event is supported by the Office for Recreation & Sport and supports the ‘be active’ message.
