Recreation SA conference
The Annual Recreation SA State Conference allows members an opportunity to network and be informed about the latest industry trends and developments and feature local and national presenters and a range of trade exhibitions.
Recreation SA Awards for Excellence
Each year individuals and organisations making an outstanding contribution to the recreation industry in South Australia are honoured, as part of the annual Recreation SA Awards.
Recreation SA has developed a comprehensive sport and recreation human resource guide for the exclusive use of members, in-conjunction with Sport SA.
All members will be provided secure access and logins to member-only online resources, templates, and publications.
Help shape the direction and provide advocacy items for your industry – all Recreation SA members are eligible to serve on our advisory committees overseeing the; Aquatic, Outdoor, Community and/or Fitness & Health Recreation sectors.
Code of practice for public Swimming pools in SA
Recreation SA has developed and released the state’s first-ever Code of Practice for SA Public Swimming Pools, aligned to the GSPO. The document aims to benefit all employees and patrons in the aquatic industry by providing a framework for planning and assessing aquatic environments, creating and maintaining safer venues and minimising risks and hazards.
Watch Around Water
Recreation SA administers and promotes this national water safety awareness program which aims to educate parents and caregivers about adequate supervision of children under 10 at public swimming pools. In 2019, Recreation SA and the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing increased the number of WAW Centre's from 63 to 127 (85% of all public Aquatic Facilities in SA are WAW members).
Recreation SA in collaboration with Fitness Australia and the Community Recreation Industry run interactive networking events and professional development short courses. We also facilitate and deliver Wilderness First Aid Courses for the Outdoor Recreation Industry.
Completed Projects 2018/19
Recreation SA completed a State-wide Aquatic Facility Audit and Master Plan (with facility mapping) which is available via our website. We also facilitated and completed the 2018/19 Trails Master Plan Project which included the development of a website, bulk trails importing tool and potential phone app.
